Health Insurance Plan:

Due to the overwhelming response, United Healthcare is extending the enrollment deadline to December 31, 2016.  If you still haven’t sent in your paperwork to get a quote, please do so ASAP.  Please note that if your group is over 5 employees, and you DO NOT have group coverage, we ask that you all fill out the UHC enrollment form for underwriting purposes.

As you know, the OSCA Health Insurance Plan is new.  Establishing a brand new plan in a short period of time has had some unforeseen implementation issues that have caused the “go live” date to be pushed to January 1, 2017 (which for most coincides with when their previous coverage expires and the tax year).  The reason underwriting is taking longer than expected is because most groups from OSCA do not have a group insurance footprint from which the GRx underwriting tool will work, which hastens the process.  Typically, quotes are generated from past group insurance information that’s in the system.  If a company enrolling doesn’t have group coverage, there’s nothing in the computer system to model it from and the underwriters have to build a profile from scratch, which takes longer.

We’re pleased that interest is so high in the OSCA Healthcare Plan that the UHC underwriting has had much more volume than anticipated, however we apologize that the time estimated to complete the process was not accurate.  The quotes that have been coming out are very good and so far everyone who’s seen their quotes are very glad they looked into the plan.  For those who haven’t seen a quote yet, all parties involved are working diligently to ensure quotes and coverage are established in time for you to make your decision for 2017.
