National Chiropractic Legislative Conference: Each year the OSCA takes part in NCLC; which is always held in Washington DC. It is a great opportunity to get together with other states across the country to talk about their individual state’s legislative activities and also a chance to lobby congressional members about pro-chiropractic bills. This year the OSCA was accompanied by two Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, Clinton Romesha and Leroy Petry. It was a wonderful experience to introduce them to Ohio’s congressional delegation as well as to the House of Representatives leadership team. Additionally, the OSCA took time to explain to each member about the Patriot Project and its’ mission.
Overall, the OSCA met with 13 congressional members; including Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and House Republican Conference Chairwoman, Cathy McRodgers.
House Bill 276: The OSCA will be having another interested party meeting with Rep. Schuring and the OSMA next week to work out each parties’ differences. The OSCA has continued to stand firm that any changes or mandates to the bill that would require continuing education hours to practice nutrition will not be accepted.
It is the hope of Rep. Schuring to have a substitute bill drafted by the end of March with the intention of having a committee vote on the bill sometime in April.
