Governor’s Cabinet Opiate Action Task Force (GCOAT): The OSCA took part in press conference on Tuesday January 19th with the Lt. Governor and other cabinet members to discuss the release of the new opiate prescribing guidelines for the management of acute pain to prevent drug overdoses. The new guidelines call for non-pharmacologic therapies to be used as a first line of defense. One of the therapies recommended within the guidelines and at the press conference was the use of chiropractic adjustments.

HB 276 (Chiropractic-Nutrition) The bill was scheduled for a committee vote on Wednesday January 20, 2016 but due to some last minute opposition the bill was pulled from the House Health and Aging committee’s calendar. The bill’s sponsor, Rep. Schuring, will be scheduling a interested party meeting within the next couple of weeks to discuss concerns some medical healthcare providers have on the legislation.
OSCA Board of Directors’ Meeting: On January 14th Speaker of the Ohio House, Cliff Rosenberger, came and addressed the OSCA Board of Directors. Some of the issues discussed focused around opiates, BWC, grassroots, and treating Ohio National Guard airman and soldiers.
