House Bill 276: While it was originally scheduled for a committee vote last week the vote has been postponed until further notice. The legislature has adjourned for the rest of the year but should be back in session in mid to late January.
House Bill 169: As previously stated the physical therapist scope of practice bill was scheduled for a committee vote two weeks ago but the vote was delayed until next year. However, the committee did approve a substitute version of HB 169. The OSCA and other parties continue to be opposed to the bill based a PT’s lack of education when it comes to ordering diagnostic images and their ability to perform a ‘physical therapy diagnosis.’ We are asking the sponsors of the bill as well as the Commerce and Labor Committee chairman to hold another interested party meeting where the OSCA will be calling for additional information on a PT’s education.
House Bill 170: A vote on the employer vaccination bill has also been delayed until next year or until further notice. The sponsor of the bill and the parties who are opposed to the bill are currently working on a compromise in order to satisfy all parties involved.
Medicaid Legislation: The OSCA is drafting legislation that would make doctors of chiropractors status within BWC congruent with the Ohio Department of Medicaid. Our ultimate goal is to have chiropractic physicians use their full scope of practice not just within BWC but also within Medicaid. While we are still in the beginning stages of getting the bill drafted we are hoping to a first draft back by the end of the year.
