As many of
you are aware, the new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
(FMCSA) law, effective May 21st 2014, will require all DOT examiners to
complete specialized training from a certified training provider and
pass a written exam, before gaining a spot on a new National Registry of
Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME). If you have never performed a U.
S. Department of Transportation (DOT) physical or feel a little
intimidated by them, it is a great time for our profession to get
involved in a federally mandated program. DOT Certification is an
unprecedented revenue opportunity for every chiropractor to take
advantage of a new Federal ruling to drive more patients to their
practice. Learn more about the training you need to become a certified
DOT Medical Examiner and performing Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV)
driver medical examinations. The NRCME Plus training curriculum was
designed by Clinton M. Smith, D.C., one of the ten original consultants
who collaborated with the FMCSA and medical examiner peer review experts
to develop the blueprint and identify the critical knowledge, skills,
and abilities to perform CMV driver physical examinations. Dr. Smith
performs an average of 600 DOT exams per year in his private
practice. “This is an exceptional opportunity for our profession to
establish visibility and expertise in an area that has, up to now, been
underserved by chiropractors. Extending our patient base and increasing
revenues are obvious benefits – the message is clear – get trained, get
proficient and incorporate these mandatory exams into your practice.”
